Your Need to Know Guide for the Premier League 16/17
Before kicking off the highly anticipated Premier League season here’s the first of Marathon Sports Travel’s Need to Know Guides.
Of the twenty Premier League teams there is a staggering seven new managers to be seen. This will make for exciting times as they work to prove their worth to the clubs, players and supporters. Some of the names which have been confirmed are as follows; Pep Guardiola for Manchester City, Antonio Conte for Chelsea, Claud Puel for Southampton and finally Walter Mazzari taking the reigns at Watford. It’s all eyes on these managers as they aim to fulfill the ideals of the massive key teams and their fans this season. With the intensity of the criticisms managers now face from the media and online outlets there is huge interest in what they have to offer.
Some of the major changes in the managerial positions come from the likes of the Jose Mourinho, who, following his dismissal from Chelsea has made the leap to Manchester United. A change as dramatic this has caused a massive stir in fans, this can only be expected to filter onto the players and their performances. This sees David Moyes former Manchester United manager remain in the Premier League and take up the position at Sunderland. Along with this Ronald Koeman is now taking the helm at Everton rather than previously at Southampton.
When we look at the major figures who remain in the Premier League such as fan favourite’s Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool and Arsene Wegner for Arsenal mixed with these new changes in the League really promotes the level of talent and attraction of the English teams. This new dynamic has created a huge buzz from fans surrounding the pending season and all it has to offer. The unexpected triumph of Leicester City last season sees the much talked about return of their manager Claudio Ranieri.
The old rivalry between the iconic managers Guardiola and Mourinho has now been moved into the same city where they will be aiming to restore all their former glory. An old cowboy movie comes to mind, where they face each other at a shoot-out and say “this town ain’t big enough for the both of us”. Only time will tell on whether either of them are big enough for the town and respective teams.
The race for the title will make for fantastic watching, especially when we look at all the changes made in the top four teams in particular. All these changes could make way for yet another surprise victory from an underdog team. This has fans full of excitement and the hype surrounding what is to come this season has not been seen for a very long time.
With all the new additions in management, particularly looking at the top four teams, could this the beginning of an entirely new Premier League? With reports online pulling on a wide variety of favorites for the coming season, let us know your predictions and thoughts on what we have in store.
